Our house has been for sale since July!
We have been praying for a buyer and a new family to love our house. Our missionary reminded me weeks ago that it's not my time but the Lord's time. I was planning on fasting with prayer today about the house selling. After conference yesterday I was reminded the benefits of fasting with prayer.
We can fast to help the sick or afflicted, to gain strength, resist temptation, for something important to us- just like in Matthew 17:14-21 and really all through the scriptures are reasons to fast. During our adoption I found strength in fasting combined with prayer. I had good intentions but soon as my feet hit the floor I found banana bread grandma had sent over late last night and before I even blinked my eye the bread was in my mouth and down my throat. As soon as it was gone I realized fasting was not a commitment. It was actually just a thought...like I think I'll fast and maybe the Lord will know I really want the house to sell. I love the reminder in the scriptures in Psalms 37:5 to commit to the Lord. " Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." I have found myself instead of fasting today reflecting on my commitment and remembering He is always there. I am writing down new goals. I am starting again. I am thankful for His perfect plan.
